Its beyond me...
We're having our best season for years, safe from relegation, pushing for Europe, still in the FA Cup, the best strike force for ages, a solid defence, playing some decent entertaining football. And still people want Big Sam gone. Talk about wanting to shoot yourself in the foot. Unbelievable.

as i said earlier, 8th for me is pretty much where we should be based on how much we spend on wages and tranfers.

That's right, we have always been a mid table team in the top flight, on average, but we want better.

Since we first came up in th 50s, we have averaged 9th place, so we are a top ten team.

Since the Murdoch League started, we've averaged 12th, still mid table, though not quite as good as the overall picture.

During Greenwood and Lyall's time, we averaged 13th, but that can defeinitely be excused with all the cup success.

8th would be a great finish to this season, as it would put us one up on our historic average.

To me it's not where in mid-table we finish, but how sophisticated we are.

If we were a piss-pot cunt club; I'd be loving us being in a MID-TABLE position...

But we're not a piss-pot cunt club and MID-TABLE TOP-FLIGHT finishes have been a regular event for us over the decades...

>>> Indeed. One wonders, then, why people keep going on about what Allardyce did at Bolton.

And let's not forget Jim Smith at Derby. What a bloody legend.

Stewie, probably because a manager's record is pretty much the only thing you can judge him by.

That's completely different from something like the inflation in transfer prices.

Even Southampton who are a wonderful club* spend decent money on players to compliment their excellent youth structure.

*Wonderful because they make so many people angry with jealousy

Strange how Bagpuss needed a large transfer kitty with Tottenham and QPR, isn't it?

It almost like football has changed in the 15 years since he was manager with us.

Alex, it will a first if we end a Premiersip season with a positive goal difference. Even finishing fifth we could not manage it under 'Arry.

Re: Its beyond me...
Bagpuss also got us into this sort of position in the league a number of times. Didn't need a £100m budget to do it either.
